Do Not Kill
Human life is the most sacred thing. This law forbids any violent act that harms or takes a life. Such violations are tried in a great customary court with the highest fines of gold and surrender of land.
Do Not Abuse
All abuse or physical violence against fellow citizens is strictly forbidden. Larvul Ngabal guarantees the physical safety of every individual under firm customary protection.
Do Not Commit Adultery
Upholding family honor and the dignity of women is the foremost principle. Violating moral norms is seen as an insult to the entire clan and is punished with very heavy customary fines.
Do Not Harass a Wife
Any act that disturbs or breaks the harmony of another’s household is strictly forbidden. This law sustains social stability and the conjugal peace of the core family within the Evav community.
Do Not Break Boundaries
Ancestral land is a sacred right passed down by the forebears. Shifting a boundary or claiming another’s land is the same as breaking inter-clan agreements. Such violations are settled in a great council of the whole ratschap.

The customary oath is a sacred bond tying two parties before the ancestors. Breaking it is believed to bring a curse. This tradition has kept honesty and trust among the Kei people for centuries.
Larvul Ngabal is the guiding principle of the people of tanah evav for keeping balance between humans, nature, and the creator. The oldest customary law in Eastern Indonesia, it consists of 7 sacred articles preserved across generations.

One of the oldest ohoi that still holds firmly to the Rat order and the ancestral adat rituals of Evav.
Heirloom EraGong Dada Wadlau
A bronze heirloom gong sounded only in adat ceremonies and royal coronations — a voice calling the ancestors. This instrument is often played in cyclical rhythms to accompany local traditional dances, such as the Sawat Dance.
